Here are some of the many benefits of matcha:

  • Packed with antioxidants
  • Boosts metabolism and burns calories
  • Detoxifies effectively and naturally
  • Calms the mind and relaxes the body
  • Rich in fibre, chlorophyll and vitamins
  • Enhances mood and aids in concentration
  • Provides vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium
  • Matcha has 60x more antioxidants than spinach
  • Less acidic than coffee (easier on your stomach)

Let's dive into our 4 favourite ways to incorporate matcha into your life:

1. Make a Homemade Latte

Okay, this one may seem a little basic, but we had to start with a classic and indulgent way to consume your morning matcha. Making homemade lattes at home doesn't have to be daunting.

Start with about 1 teaspoon of matcha. You can adjust this based on your preference. To avoid lumps, sift the matcha into your mug.

Next, pour about 1/4 cup of recently boiled water over your matcha. You do not want to use scalding water as this will burn your matcha, creating a bitter flavour. Whisk your matcha and water together using a kitchen whisk or chasen (a traditional Japanese matcha whisk) until smooth.

Now it's time to get creative. Lattes are known for their rich, frothy milk. We like to use frothed oat or coconut milk here. If you have a frother, go ahead and froth about 1 cup of your warm milk of choice. Otherwise you can whisk your milk until forthy.

Pour your warmed milk over your matcha. You can optionally add some sweetener like honey, or additional flavours like vanilla or cinnamon. Whisk everything together and enjoy.

2. DIY Matcha Face Mask

Not only is matcha beneficial when consumed internally, but it also contains numerous benefits for your skin. When applied topically, the high antioxidant content in matcha can reduce inflammation and irritated skin, prevent signs of aging, protect against damage, and provide nourishment for glowing skin.

You only need a few ingredients to make your own matcha face mask. Make our favourite soothing mask by string together 2 teaspoons of organic matcha, 1 teaspoon of honey, and a couple drops of water until you reach your desired consistency. Not interested in the homemade route? Try our Clarifying Matcha Face Mask made with bentonite clay, honey, matcha, and peppermint.
